Tiered commission is where salon reports go wrong most often, so you're not alone. When the numbers don't match, it's usually one of four things, and it's worth checking them in this order. 1) Which sales count toward the tier: services only or services plus retail, and before or after discounts. 2) Whether a tier pays the higher rate on all sales once the threshold is hit, or only on the sales above it. 3) When the tier resets (weekly, pay period or month), which matters if your pay period doesn't line up with the calendar month. 4) Refunds or voids from an earlier period landing in this one. To check it, export the staff transaction detail for one stylist for one pay period, add up the eligible sales yourself in a sheet, and apply your tier rules by hand. If your total matches the report, the setup is right and the difference is one of the rules above.
