Card on File Logic for Membership Clients

Currently, when a client signs up for a membership using a specific card, and then later comes in and pays for a separate service or product with a different card, the system appears to automatically default to the most recently used card. This happens even when we have not intentionally saved or selected that card as the new default.
From an operational standpoint, this creates issues with declined payments and client confusion, especially when membership billing unexpectedly attempts to process on a card that was only meant for a one time purchase.
Our suggestion is:
• The membership card should remain the default billing card unless staff intentionally changes it.
• Cards should only be saved when staff explicitly chooses to save them.
• Using a different card for a one time transaction should not automatically override or replace the existing default card on file.
• Ideally, there would be a clear toggle or confirmation required to set a newly used card as the default.
This would give clinics better control, reduce failed payments, and create a clearer experience for both staff and clients.
