Deposit - please change terminology to BOOKING FEE

Legally if there is a booking fee, this can be kept if client doesn't turn up. A deposit can be challenged. This helps when we have events to cover cost of goodie bags given when clients book on the night and protects us from loses if they cancel

Less dispute loss, enforcing policies

I would like the ability to change the word deposits on the back end to "booking fee". Our guests put down a deposit and if they fail to cancel within the cancellation period it serves as the cancellation fee. Clients are frequently disputing it with their banks and we are losing due to the legal wording of the word "deposit" implying that it can be refunded.

I recently became aware that in my state if you call something a "deposit" and in the event that they cancel, there is a loophole that if no services are rendered clients can dispute charge. We just got the deposit feature to combat the issue with clients freezing their credit cards on file when they no show or do a late cancellation. I would like to be able to change the wording of "deposit" to say something such as "booking fee" or "holding fee" or something when it views to clients during the checkout process. Clients dont read the banner as it is and I dont want another issue of not being able to enforce my policies again because all the reciepts and booking say "deposit".

TRADEMARK SALON
We use the term "Non-Refundable Agreement Fee"
However, it still comes down to the banks in the end, even if you use 3rd party merchant services like Square & Clover.
But any change where it helps the small businesses would be nice.

TRADEMARK SALON I agree but it doesn't help because phorest still calls it a deposit. And when collecting it says deposit so it can easily be disputed. I would like the ability to change the terminology.

Yes! It totally depends on the State a salon is located in, but this is true. In most US states a “deposit” is refundable by law whereas a booking fee is not.
