Colour Coded / Various Types of Breaks

I love how everything is color coded. But the breaks are all grey. I understand we can change the name. But it would be nice to make a more customizable segment so when someone does a quick glance through the books, they know what meetings have been schedules, or classes. That way it does not look like the whole week is a break for the management staff.

We have beta for colour coded break blocks/templates. If you are interested in testing please email cahir@phorest.com with you account id. You can find your account id at the top left of Phorest.
Thanks!

Change default break duration

Krystal Pavli
Hi we use the break button as a mini note section on the calendar next to clients appointments, I was hoping you could make an edit in adjusting the default duration in the break button. It is defaulted at 30 minutes and we're hoping to have an option to make it defaulted to 10 minutes instead.

Can you have saved break options for example we add a 10 minute retail break after facials.

It would be good to have it saved in the breaks so all we have to do is select it and it has the perimeters saved. (10 minute, paid, Retail/Rebook)

I know we can back space "break" and type what we want but it could be really nice to allow up to set up and save a couple preset options

Make Paid Breaks A Different Colour to unpaid Breaks- Its a Payroll NIGHTMARE
K
Kay .
As there is not a way of making a reminder/note on the calendar we use breaks to leave ourself reminders such as go to post office or mop floor etc. This makes payroll very time consuming as we have to click into every single break to see if its paid or unpaid. Here is how i was advised that the breaks work by phorest. You need to be careful your staff are not being underpaid or over paid depending on if the break is ticked paid or unpaid and also if its in the rostered hours or outside their rostered hours.
Breaks Outside Roster:
I can confirm that if a paid break is created outside of rostered hours, it will be included in payroll hours. Here's how breaks work in payroll calculations:
Unpaid breaks outside rostered hours: These don't affect payroll hours and won't be included in wage calculations
Paid breaks outside rostered hours: These will count toward payroll hours, even though they're outside the scheduled shift time
This means if you're using breaks for notes/reminders outside rostered hours and they're marked as paid, they will add to the total hours worked for payroll purposes. To avoid this affecting payroll calculations, we would suggest marking these reminder breaks as unpaid.

Hi Krystal,
Great news — we’re working on something that should make this a lot easier for you! Soon you’ll be able to create custom breaks and save them for quick use. That means you can set up a 10-minute break, a 1-hour staff meeting, or whatever you like, and just pick them from a handy drop-down.
This is due out towards the end of the month, so it should be a perfect fix for what you’re trying to do.
