We donate a decent amount of gift cards and have large gift card sales around each holiday, in our previous system we were able to manually adjust the 'valid date' & 'expiration date' with each sale - always being 6 months but with this option we were able to set when the 6 months started.. for instance I just donated a gift card for an event happening April 16th and today is March 25th - now they will be loosing almost a whole month of the gift card being valid. Also around the holidays we always set the 'valid date' for the actual holiday and not the date purchased.
