Phorest Product: For the New Year - we offered a Value Added Gift Cards (10% ) (I thought they were Discounted, but we actually did Value Added Cards) - but when we check out a client with one of these gift cards, as we normally do - add the Tip on the Pay Screen, click Gift Card and try to finish the transaction - it then gives us a Error Message - (we had a pic but can't find it). When I spoke with someone at Phorest about this, I was told that Discounted/Value Added Gift Cards can't be used toward Tips. So we have to Cash it out and just manually change the Gift Card balance. But that doesn't make sense to us. It's their money - and we can't/won't tell them that they have to use cash for a Tip and not their Gift Card balance. We really hope this can be fixed.

Phorest Product Not allowing tips on discounted gift cards does make things more complicated. I always have estheticians calling me trying to remember how to check out a client that includes a tip because it's more confusing than normal. To solve, we add a tip on the pay screen, and then add the same amount that they want to tip onto a card on file, and then the rest of the charge due can go onto the gift card. When the terminal then asks if they want to tip, we click no tip, since it has already been incorporated in the pay screen. It is a bit confusing and odd that clients are forced to use their own money to tip, even if the discounted gift card had been a gift, or if they had purchased a large gift card during our annual sale and were not planning on using any of their other money at checkout. Checkout usually takes a while as the estheticians have to try to remember how to get it to work without throwing an error, so this process could certainly be improved by allowing the discounted gift cards to tip
